Mid Week Deaf Devotion 1/5/2010

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20 NLT)

This is our close relationship with God.

What is God’s plan for us? What is His plan for us as individuals, as families, as a community, as a society, as a Kingdom Citizen?

He created us in His image for one reason. That is to have a deep, and close relationship with Him.

God created the universe and everything in the universe with everything we would ever need so that we could know and love Him.

This means that nothing, not ability, beauty, intelligence, money, or anything else, will ever define our life as successful in God’s eyes.

It comes down to our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Jesus knocks at the door and wants to come in as a close friend and share fellowship. This is at the door of our house, the door of our heart. This is where we are. It does not matter where we have been. What matters is that we answer the door and let Jesus come in.

Sadly, some people do not answer the door.

Some do not know Jesus is knocking. People can get so busy that they will never amount to anything for God. There is too much commotion in their life. They do not know Jesus is knocking. When Jesus comes in, sits down and relaxes in fellowship we let the Holy Spirit take over and we have a closer relationship with God.

Some people do not answer the door because they know that God knows everything and they maybe have something they are trying to hide from God. God knows what we been doing, and what is going on in our lives and we know that God knows. And many times when Jesus is knocking we know he wants to fix something gone wrong and we will not answer the door.

Some people do not answer the door because it might threaten other relationships. We have considered the cost and we think the cost is too high for a close relationship with God. People have to take a stand. When the door is opened and God gets close, some of our relationships are going to change. If Jesus were to knock at our door today and all we could think about is the relationships, or those things we think we need, or love more than anything else, how close would God really be?

Sometimes people are just too weak to answer the door. Sometimes people have been beat back, beat down, beat up by the world and are in such a shape they may just be too weak to get to the door. We who are spiritually “mature,” don’t tell how “spiritual” we are, show it. Prove it. We can help carry other’s burdens. We can help carry them to the door. Maybe if we would answer the door ourselves, we could carry a few to the door as well.

Now, do we want only to be better Christians? Do we just want to be saved and that’s it? There is so much more to this life than being saved. We are meant to have a deep, and close relationship with God.

If we will open the door to our hearts and let Jesus come in as the Lord of our life, then we will gain all that Heaven has to offer. But we must open the door wide and willingly allow Him to come in. Jesus will never force His entrance. Jesus will not put His foot in the door to keep us from closing it! He will not persuade us against our will to follow Him! He will not manipulate our minds or play on our emotions or use other tricks! He is ever so gentle, so loving and so respectful of our freedom to choose.

Jesus will trade the opened door to our hearts for an open door into the glories of Heaven for all eternity!

Praise His most Holy, and Righteous Name!

Can we feel the tug of the Holy Spirit? Can we sense the closeness of the Lord Jesus Christ? Can we see Him in our mind’s eye as He stands before us, gently knocking, and then reaching out to us with those nail-scarred hands of love?

Then, OPEN THE DOOR!
